Elsa Molinard is a French designer based in Nice, France. She dedicates her work to her own research and works in common with her partners of the atelier Prìa.
Elsa graduates
with honors from both Design Academy in Eindhoven (2020) and ESSA Duperré in Paris
(2015). She
follows her sculptural approach to architecture and ceramics during an exchange
at Bezalel Academy of Arts in Jerusalem (2018). Working a year and a half for Peter Zumthor (2019-2021) confirms her affinity to create with
architects and designers where different scales can complement each other in
the modeling of our living environment.
Elsa’s practice
is at the meeting of art, design and architecture.
She has a vision of
a design industry that includes and preserves craftsmen’s techniques.
Her work invites
individual and collective experience which she believes are intrinsically
connected. Deeply anchored in locality and its natural materials, she reveals
what is subtle yet vital in our cultures and in our environments. Influenced by
her vernacular Mediterranean heritage, she engages contemplation of the elements
as means to create atmospheres and narratives.
By unraveling the
origin of things, she continually rethinks objects and spaces as to grasp what is
still relevant from the past and bring back a sense of community and care within
the social fabric.
